My name is Karen Pachuta and I am running for election to the Doraville City Council. I've been a Doraville resident for more than 10 years. I love Doraville’s location and diversity and I look forward to working with the community and the City to celebrate the many facets of Doraville.
I was born and raised in Cary, North Carolina, a town with fewer than 7,000 people when I was born, that grew to almost 50,000 by the time I left for college. After graduating from high school in 1988, I attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 1992. For several years, I worked in the non-profit sector, first for a small social services firm in New Orleans and later for a low-income housing advocate here in Atlanta. I also worked many years in the private sector, for both a national water distributor and a local manufacturing company. In 2002, I returned to school full-time at Emory School of Law, receiving a J.D. in 2005. I am a member of the State Bar of Georgia and currently practice civil law in and around the metro-Atlanta area.
